SHAYNE: The song that gave us our name. The oldest song by us that never went passed a demo. Morbid wrote lyrics, i wrote music and that was that. Forgotten. It is a groovier MW tune with a quite oddly timed prechorus that always threw off the band hence why it never hit the studio or stage. All these years on, the song is now recorded and true to MW form. An incredibly fun song to play, lots of solid down picking, grooves and mosh.
MORBID: The song that gave the band it's name.
The idea at the time was we were going to be called Predator or something. "Yeah... real original" I hear you say. Seems we all thought so too. Incidently, the name we ended up using - MurderWorld - wasn't original either.
I stole the name. Horror of fucking horrors. Okay... I'll rephrase - I borrowed the name from another medium. At the time MW (the band) was coming together I was reading the 70s/early 80s run of Uncanny X-men. Yes, the comic. I'd just started buying Marvel's Essentials line.
Murderworld (in the comic) was an amusement park run by the villian Arcade. One of those glorious silver age villians with a theme and a stupid 70s costume. He was an assassin, you see, and the amusement park was his weapon. He'd dump his targets into the park filled with mirror rooms of death and such, and well... you get the general idea. (Seems like a roundabout way to do things, doesn't it... if you've already gone to the trouble of abducting your quarry...)
The song is NOT about any of that stuff, and you just wasted your time reading it. But you are now slightly more knowledgable on crappy 70s super villians. Has this been a good experience for you?
Okay, enough pisstaking, if you actually trudged thru all that meaningless crap, here it is for ya. The idea behind this song from the lyrical standpoint: I liked the name, so I took that, and fused it onto one of my pet themes from that time period. This is another of my "the media is controlling you" songs. (Of which, only one made the actual album. Isn't this a fascinating tale, ladies and gentlemen?). Written from the perspective of the controller, the lyrics are all about the search for truth. It's there, but you have to find it yourself. It was all the conspiracy, anti-George Dubya Bush stuff that was sweeping the internet. Take that approach to the media and you've got the idea behind this song. It's quite simple, and really didn't require all that crap about 70s super villians. But you've read it now, and can't unread it. Which means I win. Mwahahahahaha.

lyrics
Welcome to this hell on earth I'll be your host of pain
This test of mental stamina could leave you quite insane
You are decieved, By things you see
You do not know what to believe
Everything, That you know
Before you shall dissolve
Trapped within this perfect world I've built for you
You will never leave this place alive
Caught within the murderworld I've laid for you
You will never escape from me alive
No escape!
It's what you think about yourself
That translates outward
Perception of reality
Is not always...
To be believed as the one and only truth.
Take on board more than what you see or else it could destroy you.
You are decieved, By things you see
You do not know what to believe
Everything, That you know
Before you shall dissolve
Trapped within this perfect world I've built for you
You will never leave this place alive
Caught within the murderworld I've laid for you
You will never escape from me alive
Take you now
On a mental expidition
Thru your subconcious
Live thru the repressed memories
Take you now
Its a journey thru hell
Personal Hell
That only you can know
After this you will never be the same
When you play this terrible game
I'll flood your mind with visions of pure lies
You will believe and the truth shall die
You are mine
Body and soul
Of my ultimate control
Live and breathe
Die by my whim
Did you ever think it could be so grim?
I will be your master of hate
You are mine
Now and for all time
Life denies
Look inside
And never find
The strength to fight
I will be your master of pain
Seeing these guys live tomorrow. I have saw them twice already and they are amazing. Didn't know they had another album as I only owned their new disc. catwizard
